FLASH: "VOICE OF GOD" DEAD
"IN A WORLD" WITHOUT DON

It's with great sadness that I pass along news of the passing of my friend Don LaFontaine, the greatest movie voiceover artist of all-time, at the age of 68. He leaves behind his wife, the actress/singer Nina Whitaker, as well as three daughters, Christine, Skye, and Elyse.

The last few months of Don's life were nothing short of horrendous, thanks to a terrible combination of medical malpractice and bad luck. In August, Don emailed a number of his family, friends, and fans an update about his predicament (he thought he was on the mend); I emailed him back to tell him he was in my thoughts and also to seek his permission to recount his story on this site, and a week or so ago he emailed me back and granted it, so I will post that shortly.

In the meantime, click below to listen to a fascinating conversation that I had with Don in June 2006 about his remarkable life and work...

and also be sure to check out a great self-parody that Don and four of his colleagues filmed roughly a decade ago that has become a YouTube hit...

and, finally, his celebrated GEICO spot...
