"OK, KID, YOU GOT THE JOB"
A friend recently introduced me to this footage of Henry Thomas' incredible audition for the starring role of Elliott in Steven Spielberg's now-classic E.T.: the Extraterrestrial (1982). I can't help but wonder what Thomas—who was only ten at the time—was drawing upon to evoke such an emotional performance at his audition and in the film (opposite another child prodigy, Drew Barrymore). Regardless, you've gotta hand it to the kid... he was damn good. So, the inevitable question... what ever happened to Henry Thomas? He attended college in his native Texas; showed up in modestly sized roles in decent films like Legends of the Fall (1994) and Gangs of New York (2002), as well as in a lot of junk; married and divorced, re-married and separated; and now, at thirty-six, is apparently dabbling in producing.
