Adrienne Shelley, the late actress-writer-director of Golden Globe contender Waitress (Fox Searchlight), was a huge fan of the New York Yankees, and named her primary male character Dr. Pomatter as a tribute to Yankees Jorge Posada, Don Mattingly, and Derek Jeter.
